Without a doubt, one of the best things about fall is Halloween. An excuse to consume seriously unhealthy amounts of candy? Yes, please. Aside from the costumes and candy, Halloween also provides us with fun in the form of haunted houses. Check out our list of haunted houses in the area and make sure you get to one while they are still in season! Continue reading

Rules for better living: A public reminder to live well.
But what exactly does living well mean?
In a world full of busy schedules and persistent technology most of us go throughout our days in a daze. To live well does not require grand things; it requires being in the moment. A moment is merely a brief period of time that we must choose to recognize in order to appreciate. Rules for better living challenges us to laugh, give, receive, love and be present in every moment possible.
Every month we will post one of our rules for better living, reminding you to live well. We encourage you to post photos of you embracing these rules in your daily life!
This month’s rule is “Life is always better when you’re smiling.” Whether you’re enjoying time at home with loved ones, exploring your neighborhood, or hitting up the newest bar in town, be sure to say cheese and share!
It wouldn’t be fall without that annual trip to your local pumpkin patch or apple orchard. With that in mind, we’ve rounded up some of the best destinations to get you in the spirit of fall. Check out the list below and make sure to get to one before October ends! Continue reading

We visited three local Chicago roasters — Big Shoulders in Fulton Market/West Town, Groundswell in Ravenswood and Metropolis in Avondale — and discovered why each chose their neighborhood, and what they love about it. Continue reading

Celebrating their 10th anniversary, Midnight Circus in the Parks is a community building and fundraising event that tours all over Chicago each year. What makes this circus so special is that the funds raised go towards rebuilding the community via local park improvements. To date, Midnight Circus has raised over $850,000 for local park improvements throughout the Chicago area. Continue reading
