@gives back, the charitable arm of @properties, is spreading the love this holiday season with the donation of 5,000 winter coats and 10,000 toys to families in need. The items are making their way into local communities through 18 organizations around Chicagoland, including Ronald McDonald House Charities, Kids Off the Block, and the Jesse White Learning Academy. What do @properties and the Wu-Tang Clan have in common? An undeniable love for Chicago and giving back. Last month, @gives back partnered with Wu Tang Foundation, the charitable arm of the world-renowned hip hop group, and Strides for Peace, a Chicago non-profit dedicated to ending gun violence and empowering community organizations, for the inaugural Chicago Neighborhood Cleanup event.
Philanthropy is a year-round endeavor at @properties. This holiday season, we wanted to show our gratitude in a way that would impact local families at a time when they need it most.
As part of our December of Giving campaign, @properties donated 5,000 winter coats and over 2,500 toy scooters that found their way into local communities with the help of five Chicago-area non-profit organizations: The Jesse White Foundation, Paving the Way Project, Kids Off The Block, Purpose Over Pain, and New Life. Last month, our non-profit foundation, @gives back, hosted its “Fashion for a Cure” fundraiser supporting the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation – one of the nation’s leading breast cancer research and education charities.
As part of our ongoing endeavor to help strengthen our neighborhoods, @gives back – @properties’ non-profit foundation – continually partners with local organizations that are dedicated to making a positive impact on the community. Our agents, employees and partners stepped up to the plate again in 2018, successfully raising $257,700 in support of The Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation.
There are many things @properties is known for: being Chicago’s #1 luxury real estate brokerage, remaining on the forefront of technology, and fostering a supportive working environment. We are proud of each and every achievement.
However, we’re the proudest when it comes to our @gives back community fund.
Endowed in 2009, @gives back provides an outlet for our agents, employees, and colleagues to make a positive impact on the dozens of communities and thousands of lives throughout Chicagoland. Each and every year since its inception, the community fund provides support for the city we hold near and dear.
Through @properties agent submissions, we identify a different local organization that meets our same mission of improving the lives of families in need in Chicago each year. Our efforts throughout 2018 will benefit the Anthony Rizzo’s Family Foundation. Continue reading
Whether taking a tour of Wrigley Field, selling a million-dollar home, running a race with his husband, working on the latest @gives back event, or walking in Chicago’s Pride Parade as a board member for the Illinois LGBT Chamber of Commerce, Olin Eargle keeps busy.
While we don’t fully understand how he juggles it all, one thing’s for sure; the streets of Chicago are significantly better off with Olin Eargle strutting down them.
Jonny Imerman emerged from his triumphant fight against cancer at the age of 26 with one overarching belief: that no one should have to face the disease alone.
Through his boundless energy, optimism, and determination to help others, Jonny created Imerman Angels – a Chicago-based organization that matches mentor “angels” with cancer fighters, survivors, and caregivers who provide personalized one-on-one support.
At @properties, we’re committed to helping make a positive impact on our community, and that’s why we’re proud to announce that Imerman Angels is the 2017 beneficiary of our non-profit foundation, @gives back. Watch the video above to learn more about the partnership and how you can get involved.
Whether there’s a cause that hits close to home, or philanthropy just makes you feel good, there are a number of reasons people give back. No matter the reason, charitable work is essential to strengthening our neighborhoods and communities. If you’re looking for ways to get involved, here are a few suggestions: Continue reading
@gives back recently presented a $150,000 check to Chicago Blackhawks star defenseman Duncan Keith in support of Keith Relief, a local organization founded by Keith that is dedicated to alleviating the financial and emotional burdens of those suffering from medical crises.
The presentation ceremony was held at the United Center and aired during the Blackhawks vs. Blue Jackets game on March 31. Attendees included Keith, @properties co-founders Thad Wong and Mike Golden and the @gives back board of directors.
To raise money for Keith Relief, @gives back held a number of fundraisers headlined by the “@gives a hoot” country jam, which featured a VIP reception and hockey shootout with Keith, a silent auction and live entertainment.
“It was an incredible experience presenting this check on the Blackhawks’ home ice. We’re big fans of Duncan and his commitment to making a positive impact on our communities, so it was great to work with his organization on such an important cause,” said Wong. Continue reading
