Where to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in the Chicago Suburbs

Grab your green gear and put on your shamrock necklace because St. Patrick’s Day is upon us. Between the parades and live entertainment, Chicagoland is known for St. Paddy’s Day celebrations that draw hundreds of thousands of visitors. This compilation of events highlights some local favorites across the Chicago suburbs.
Barrington
McGonigal’s Pub has been home to the four-day Barrington Celtic Fest for over a decade. From Friday, March 13, to Tuesday, March 17, the pub will have live music, delicious food, entertainment from Irish dancers, and more. Event admission is free.
Downers Grove
Downers Grove’s Ballydoyle is pulling out all the stops on Tuesday, March 17 with festivities beginning at 8 a.m. and live music all day.
You can also get into the spirit at Pierce Tavern. The “neighborhood hideout” will have a two-day celebration on Monday, March 16, and Tuesday, March 17, featuring live music, bagpipes, and green beer.
La Grange
On Thursday, March 12, the La Grange Park District has its Kids Luck of the Irish event from 6 – 7 p.m. Adults can enjoy a night out while kids have fun crafting leprechaun hats and shamrocks, hunting for gold, making root beer floats, and more. Tickets are $26-34.
The La Grange Park District will also host Lucky Leprechauns on Tuesday, March 17 from 3:45 – 5 p.m, offering children ages 4-7 St. Patrick’s Day-themed crafts and games. Tickets cost $16-21.
