Chicago Marathon 2019: Spectator Information

The Chicago Marathon will be taking place this Sunday, October 13^th. Entering its 42^nd year, the Bank of America Chicago Marathon welcomes runners from around the world to run a course through 29 Chicago neighborhoods. In addition, the Chicago Marathon assists in raising money for a variety of causes. If you aren’t running, there are plenty of ways to experience and support this iconic 26.2-mile race.

Viewing Areas

While you can’t view runners directly by the start or finish areas, the official website shares the best spots to view:

• To view runners closest to the start of the race, go to Grand Avenue, between Columbus Drive and State Street, near Mile 1, or anywhere along State Street, between Grand Avenue and Jackson Boulevard.
• To view runners closest to the finish of the race, go to the Bank of America Cheer Zone at Michigan Avenue and Roosevelt Road.
• Connect with friends and family after the race, at Runner Reunite. Alphabetical signs (A-Z) will be staged on Columbus Drive adjacent to the Biofreeze 27th Mile Post-Race Party to facilitate meeting locations by name.

How to Track Runners

Did you know there is an app for the Chicago Marathon? You can download it through the App Store or Google Play. One of the biggest features is that you can track a runner! You can also view an interactive course map and track the forecast in real time.

If you prefer to steer clear of the crowds, you can still enjoy this spectacle. In addition to a live broadcast steam on the app, you can catch coverage on NBC 5 Chicago, Telemundo Chicago and 670 The Score Sports Radio.
