Attend a Front Porch Concert

From now through the end of September, attend a pop-up concert in your community. Front Porch Concerts showcases live music on front porches in Chicago neighborhoods. This is a great initiative to enjoy live music from a variety of artists and meet people within the community. Plus, you can bring snacks and blankets to listen to music picnic-style. For upcoming concerts, visit Front Porch Concerts’ website.

Date Night to Chinatown

Fully embrace all that Chicago has to offer with a unique and fun date night. Soak up a day downtown and then hop on the water taxi to head to Chinatown for dinner. Not only will you enjoy a beautiful ride, you’ll arrive to a lively part of town filled with authentic dining options. May we suggest the Phoenix?

Air and Water Show

The Chicago Air and Water Show is an absolute must on our Chicago bucket list. The 61st Annual Chicago Air and Water Show will take place this Saturday and Sunday, August 17th and 18th. From 10 a.m. to 3p.m., you can experience one of the largest air and water exhibitions and observe astonishing aircraft demonstrations over beautiful Lake Michigan. Learn more about the event, parking and history here.

Cheer on Chicago Teams

Snag some peanuts and cracker jacks to cheer on one of Chicago’s very own baseball teams. Cubs and Sox games will be happening through September giving you ample time to enjoy America’s favorite pastime.

If you’re looking for a little more sports action, head to Bridgeview for a Chicago Fire soccer game. FYI, fan appreciation night is this Saturday, August 17th.

Bike and Picnic Along the Lakefront

Rent a Divvy bike and cruise around the lakefront trail. The long stretch passes Lincoln Park Zoo, Soldier Field and Navy Pier providing you with breathtaking views of Chicago. Since biking will work up an appetite, we recommend bringing a lunch to enjoy picnic-style along the water.

Explore the 606

The 606 was once an abandoned rail line that has transformed into an amazing public space. With art displays, green space, trails and community events, the 606 has activities for all. In fact, they have an events calendar. Enjoy movies in the park, picnics and outdoor yoga.

Visit Your Local Farmers Market

Chicago has a great mix of neighborhood farmers markets throughout the city, making it possible for one to be held everyday. Fresh produce, breads, colorful flowers and more can be found at a local farmer’s market.
