10 Reasons Why We Love Hinsdale

Hinsdale is one of Chicagoland’s most sought-after suburbs, and it’s easy to see why. Filled with rich history and amenities for all, the picturesque community is home to over 17,000 residents, and @properties is ecstatic to be among them. Here are 10 reasons why we love Hinsdale:

Historic Hinsdale

With several historic buildings dating to before 1873, downtown Hinsdale is on the National Register of Historic Places. What started as laying track down for the railroad, turned into 700 acres of Hinsdale. Residents of the town came together to implement improvements to develop one of the most desirable suburbs in Chicagoland.

After 1900, Hinsdale citizens Philip Clarke and architect R. Harold Zook created brick and terra cotta buildings along with homes throughout the downtown area. The result was a unique and identifiable Colonial style village. Even with time and updates, Hinsdale continues to showcase the character and layout that was implemented all those years ago.

Delicious Bites

You’ll never go hungry in Hinsdale. Enjoy American fare and a variety of beverages at Fuller House Bar + Grill; innovative Japanese cuisine mixed with Latin flair at Nabuki; an old-school diner feel at Page’s; or an array of delicious bites at Harry and Eddie’s.

In-Season Goodies

Entering its 43rd season, Hinsdale’s Farmers Market brings over 25 farmers and small food vendors to Burlington Park every Monday from June through October 14th. From 7:00am – 1:00pm you’ll find farm tables filled with in-season produce, eggs, cheeses, jams, flowers and more. Now that sounds like a delicious breakfast in the making.

Uniquely Thursdays

Grab your dancing shoes, chairs and blankets and head to Burlington Park for Uniquely Thursdays. Throughout the summer, you can enjoy live music and family fun every Thursday from 6:00pm – 9:00pm.

Beautiful Parks

The Village of Hinsdale owns and maintains 130 acres of park space. With 19 park locations, athletic fields and playgrounds are bountiful. One of the most notable parks is Katherine Legge Memorial Park, where locals enjoy playgrounds, a nature-based play area, athletic fields, picnic shelters, a sledding hill and an abundance of scenic open space.

Activities Galore

Hinsdale makes it easy to stay active and enjoy a sense of community. Take advantage of the Hinsdale Racquet Club’s tennis classes and club hours, baseball diamonds for Little League, or Burns Field, which offers tennis courts, a volleyball court and soccer field. Hitting your step goal has never been easier.

Swimming Pool

The community pool is the place to be. Swim laps in the 50-meter pool, make a splash in the diving pool with boards and slides, or enjoy the zero-depth walk-in wading pool equipped with water play features.

If a break is needed on water fun, retreat to the sunbathing area to lounge. Just be sure to reapply that SPF!

A Full Events Calendar

Hinsdale always has something going on. During the summer, you can discover beautiful pieces at the Fine Art Festival and enjoy the Summer Brew & Q. Experience a variety of workshops, networking events or even take part in the annual Merchants Garage Sale. Rain or shine, you can browse and purchase items from local retail businesses.

In the fall, take advantage of the Rotary Run Charity Classic with different types of runs and walks (even a dog walk!) through scenic Hinsdale to support important causes. Raise money to support the mission of organizations such as The Community House, Hinsdale Hospital Foundation and Rotary Club of Hinsdale Foundation.

Hinsdale Homes

As a real estate brokerage, we of course have to talk about Hinsdale’s incredible homes. You can find homes from older estates filled with charm that are marked as Historic Landmarks to modern homes with updated finishes.

Nestled along tree lined streets, these homes are unique and bring even more beauty to the town of Hinsdale.
