10 Reasons Why We Love St. Charles
If we could describe St. Charles in one word, it would be vibrant. This western suburb houses an array of cuisines, historic venues, a bustling downtown along the scenic Fox River, and an incredible community. It’s easy to call this idyllic and charming city home, so @properties did just that. Here are 10 reasons why we love St. Charles:
Never Go Hungry
St. Charles certainly doesn’t have a shortage of culinary bliss. Experience authentic Mediterranean cuisine at Eden on the River, modern Mexican fare at Puebla Modern Mexican, and Italian at La Za’Za’ Trattoria, or head to McNally’s Irish Pub for classic bites and drinks. Prefer dinner with a side of entertainment? Swing by Salerno’s on the Fox or Vintage 53 for sharable plates and live music.
The Kane County Cougars
While their home field is in neighboring Geneva, the Kane County Cougars put the excitement of minor league baseball within easy reach.
You can enjoy lively games and weekly ticket, drink, and food specials throughout the season.
The Historic Hotel Baker
In 1928, Colonel Edward J. Baker commissioned architects and craftsmen to create Hotel Baker, a resort with stunning architecture and modern luxuries. Since its opening, it has accommodated guests from entertainers like Louis Armstrong and Lawrence Welk to well-known figures such as John F. Kennedy.
The unique Rainbow Room is the epitome of charm. It’s been a location for celebration, entertainment, and weddings. With views of both the Rose Garden and Fox River, it’s the ultimate destination for an elegant affair.
Pottawatomie Park Fun
Pottawatomie Park has a plethora of activities and amenities to keep all ages entertained. Walkable trails for the trailblazers, a golf course to get your putt-putt on, paddle boats to enjoy the river, volleyball courts and sand areas.
Talk about having it all.
Let’s just say that St. Charles knows how to celebrate.
Widely known for their dazzling annual firework display, the community hosts their 4th of July Celebration with awe-worthy fireworks, a live band, and the fun activities Pottawatomie Park offers.
Summertime isn’t St. Charles’ only focus. In the fall, they put on an annual Scarecrow Fest where you can make your scarecrow and then head into town to vote for your favorite. The Scarecrow Fest is accompanied by mechanical scarecrow displays, an arts & crafts show, and carnival rides.
We can’t forget Holiday Homecoming. This signifies the start of the holiday season with lighted parade floats, sing-a-long showings of holiday classics, sleigh rides, and live holiday window displays.
They’re Making Waves
Make waves at either of St. Charles’ outstanding aquatic centers. Otter Cove Aquatic Park houses plenty of water fun with attractions like Crayfish Canal, Salamander Slides, Splash Park, and Turtle Creek.
Enjoy the Swanson Swimming Pool, where there are plenty of play areas, drop slides, and shaded deck areas.
Home Sweet Home
We’re a real estate brokerage after all, so of course we took notice of the homes. Picturesque St. Charles is home to more than 30,000 residents and offers a variety of housing options.
You can find older estates filled with charm, extravagant modern homes with today’s finishes and amenities, estate homes with acreage, condominiums, and in-town homes just steps from dining and local attractions.
Enjoy lively entertainment at the Arcada Theatre on Main Street. Operating since 1926, the Arcada has brought in an array of incredible entertainment from comedians to well-known bands.
Take advantage of live music and fresh air and snag a seat on the lawn for summer concerts in Lincoln Park. Every Thursday from the end of May to mid-August, the park district features a variety of musicians to keep you dancing.
