Agent Spotlight: Collin Wasiak

@properties broker Collin Wasiak is on top of his Instagram game, but it’s his pup Cooper (@BigCityCoop) that really steals the social media show. Get to know Collin’s journey from personal trainer to real estate agent in this week’s Agent Spotlight.
@properties: You’ve just woken up… How do you start your day?
Collin: I walk my pup, Cooper while trying not to spill my protein shake and also trying not to be late for my next appointment.
@properties: What do you love most about River North?
Collin: It’s close to a dog park and the river-walk. I’m new to the area so it keeps me on my toes and I learn new things every day.
@properties: If we had to try one local restaurant, where should we go?
Collin: Seoul Taco. It’s close to my condo, relatively clean eating, and super tasty. Get the Gogi Bowl (double meat) and you won’t be disappointed!
@properties: What is one thing you read every single day?
Collin: Morning Brew, it’s the quick notes version of what’s going on in the world.
@properties: How do you stay involved in your community?
Collin: I work with Habitat for Humanity on their young professionals advisory counsel. Specifically helping with raising funds through local events, and hosting fundraisers that benefit the Young Professional and Global Village programs out of Habitat.
@properties: You have a full free day in your town with no obligations & cost is no object. What would you do?
Collin: I would take my dog Coop to the lakefront with some friends and a bottle of wine.
@properties: How did you decide that real estate was the right career for you?
Collin: My mom & pops are both real estate attorneys and active real estate investors. Mom works for Chicago Title’s commercial division and Dad works for the IDFPR. They encouraged me to get involved.
@properties: How did your previous experiences prepare you for real estate?
Collin: I was previously a personal trainer and bartender. Through these jobs, I was able to develop what was already a passion for helping people.
The work provided an opportunity to gain a better understanding of all different types of people as well as their needs/wants.
@properties: What is your favorite part of the job?
Collin: Honestly, seeing the different walks of life of all the people that you come into contact with on a daily basis.
@properties: What is one thing you literally could not do your job without and why?
Collin: Copious amounts of black iced coffee.
@properties: What is one piece of advice you’d give to a new real estate agent?
Collin: Trust yourself, create a brand identity, collaborate with others and show up prepared. Most of all, put in the work.
@properties: To date, what do you consider your proudest achievement?
Collin: The realization that I have what it takes to excel in this industry. Committing full time and diving in head first can be daunting, but once I did I never looked back.
