Where to shop in Elmhurst when you need retail therapy

Elmhurst is a hop away from the Oak Brook Mall, a skip away from the Magnificent Mile and a jump to the Westfield Old Orchard. But the truth is, you don’t have to leave Elmhurst to get your retail therapy on.  Here is where to shop in Elmhurst for everything from jewelry to children’s books to furniture right within city limits.

A Book Above

A sign of a great neighborhood is a great bookstore, and in Elmhurst, A Book Above is one of the best children’s bookstores in the Chicago suburbs.

Describe the child, and in 10 seconds flat, the owner will give you the most perfect book recommendation.

The story time here is second to none, so you’ll have no problem convincing your kids that reading is the best activity imaginable.

Cottage Hill Diamonds

The family-owned jewelry store is known for it’s personal touch when it comes to designing your perfect engagement ring or finding a necklace that completely suits you.

A lifelong Elmhurst resident, owner Kurt Hill named the shop after what Elmhurst was once called: “Cottage Hill.” His four sons currently run the family business, one of whom proposed to his own girlfriend with a diamond purchased in Antwerp, Belgium with this father.

At the shop, don’t expect to diamond and dash — the Hill family loves to build long-term relationships with their customers and aim to be the best at what they do – which is everything from jewelry repair, appraisals and of course, helping you pick “the ring” when the time comes.

Enzee Boutique

This boutique carries clothing and accessories with boho-chic flair, and we love them for it.

It’s independently owned and completely in tune with what’s in style — yet the clothing you purchase always appears to be timeless.

Shop at Enzee to channel your light hearted and carefree side, but let your practical side celebrate a little too — they often have serious sales that make us love them even more.

Hazyl Boutique

At Hazyl Boutique, a women’s clothing store helmed by Elmhurst resident Nancy Resing, fashion is serious business. Resing, who has lived in Elmhurst for more than 25 years, used her retail background and experience as a fashion buyer and merchandiser to open her own boutique with a focus on offering a personalized shopping experience.

Resing’s apparel selections range from casual tank tops and t-shirts to wear to yoga class and brunch to sundresses for bridal showers to something glam for a night out on the town.

The boutique also offers accessories, including Blue Planet eyewear — for every pair of glasses purchased, the company donates a pair of eyeglasses to people in need.

With regularly rotating inventory, it’s totally trendy, and most of the items are in neutral colors (target audience: 30-year-old women), so you can easily put together full outfits in between your next Stitch Fix.

Add on a few of their accessories, and you’ll walk out of there looking like you totally knew what you were doing.
