Six coworking coffee shops in Lincoln Park

You’ve got a work deadline, a paper to write or simply need some quiet time . . . and your home isn’t cutting it.

We rounded up the best coffee shops in Lincoln Park that have all the necessities of a perfect work/study space: bullet-fast Wi-Fi, strong coffee and killer muffins…along with a few other perks to keep you hydrated and alert so you can nail that assignment.

CityGrounds Coffee Bar

The Internet connection is stellar, they play good music (The Beatles are on their playlist and it’s played at a non-offensive level) and they make Instagram-worthy drinks (you know, the kind with the hearts etched into the lattes).

You can choose your seating from couches or tables and the upstairs area is super quiet if you really want to hunker down.

Bonus: They’ve got a patio, for those times when it isn’t freezing outside.

Front Bar

Some people need coffee to study, others need a glass of wine to focus.

We’re not judging.

You can get both at Front Bar. It’s open Tuesday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to midnight, and people come here with everything from a computer to a date.

The Wifi is speedy, the couches are comfy and the beverages are strong — no matter what you’re drinking.

Front Bar, 1700 N. Halsted Street.

DePaul’s Richardson Library

Here’s the best kept secret in Lincoln Park: this beautiful, quiet, safe, free library is open to the public.

You don’t even have to pretend that you’re a student.

You can’t check out books, but you can BYO your own reading material or laptop.

You can spend as much time as you need (or every day, for that matter) hanging out here and using it as your office.

There are four floors, with a designated study area on the third floor.

Pro tip: The higher you go, the quieter it gets.

Kibbitznest Books, Brews & Blarney

You are trying to work, but you have FOMO.

Every two minutes, you check your social media pages.

Then you get distracted, and have to start working from the beginning.

You should probably work here, where they’ve gone ahead and banned Wi-Fi.

This is a super cool coffee shop that also has beer and wine and with numerous rooms, you can choose the one that works for you.

It’s cozy and charming, so you can settle in – as long as you don’t need Wi-Fi to work.

Kibbitznest books, brews & blarney, 2212 N. Clybourn.

Next Door Cafe

This is as close to an actual co-working space as you’ll get in Lincoln Park (though there are some in nearby Lakeview and Wicker Park). But you may find that it’s even better because it’s free to use.

Powered by State Farm insurance, you can come in here, grab a cup of coffee or a smoothie and a bite to eat and power up the complimentary Wi-Fi.

If you want, you can also grab one of their finance or insurance experts to chat about your personal finance or insurance needs — but you totally don’t need to do that.

The only problem here is that it’s become a hotspot in the neighborhood, so come early to grab a good seat.

Next Door Cafe, 659 W. Diversey.

Colectivo

This is a bright, sunny coffee shop that’ll burst you out of your work rut in a snap.

If you’re in a Vitamin D slump, plant yourself in the heated, covered outdoor area with a cup of coffee or a mocha latte.

They’ll draw a pattern on the latte, and you’ll feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

They serve everything from fancy coffee drinks to cold brews with all types of milks (even coconut milk) and alcohol.

It’s a large space, so you can come with your study or work group and stay on through your 5:00 p.m. happy hour.

If you live in Lincoln Park and work from home, you’ll never have to worry about going stir crazy with plenty of options to choose from when you need a chance of scenery and a jolt of caffeine.

Colectivo, 2530 N. Clark Street.
