Where to get the best blowout for your holiday party

There is something about spending time getting your hair blown out that makes ladies feel like they can conquer the world.

These aren’t your grandma’s beauty shops, either.

Many of these blowout bars offer amenities like wine and chick-flicks, and they have you looking fabulous and ready to go in an hour or less.

Here are a few of our favorite places to get a blowout in and around Chicago…including one that has a special men’s blowout on the menu.

Gold & Braid

For those who were in the know about the $25 blowouts at the now-closed Bucktown salon Griffith Parc, they can now travel across the street to Gold & Braid. The stylists from the defunct salon all rent chairs there and honor the same price ‘do. Expect no frills, but instead a fabulous blowout that will usually have you out the door in 45 minutes or less.

blo Southport

This newbie shop to the Southport corridor is ultra-modern with square leather hair chairs and pops of hot pink throughout the salon.

Walk-ins are welcome and they even offer a “blo-on-the-go” where they’ll come do a blowout on location.

They also love planning parties so bring the gals and your favorite food or drink (it’s BYOB). You can also add on makeup services.

Expect more of these to pop up in Chicago – the goal is to add a few more across the city in the near future.

Blowout Junkie

Three sisters with a vision for style opened this urban blow dry bar aimed to make getting beautiful hair super easy. Need an early morning appointment?

Just ask.

Need to make a last minute change?

They are happy to accommodate.

They are even open to men’s blowouts – dubbed the Board Room blowout – so guys never have to feel left out at one of these spots again.

It’s not just all hair here; they’ll do makeup and lashes too to complete the full look.

BloOuts

Who says all the style has to be kept for the city?

Former lead hairstylist for the Oprah Winfrey Show Vivian Arpino opened a pair of blowout salons on the North Shore – in Winnetka and Highland Park.

Blowouts are $35 and they’ll also do up dos and braids for an additional charge.

Dream Dry

With fashion designer Rachel Zoe behind this swanky Lincoln Park blowout bar, you know you’ll be leaving looking super stylish.

When you walk in you’ll be offered your choice of beverage before you are whisked to have your hair washed and then styled.

Kick back once you choose your look (straight and sleek? Soft and romantic? Perhaps beach waves?) and browse one of their iPads or fashion magazines while you get pampered.

DryBar

Perhaps the most ubiquitous with locations across the country, DryBar makes a blowout feel like an afternoon with good girlfriends, even if they aren’t in tow.

Chick-flicks adorn the flat screens and champagne flows like water.

You can leaf through their style look book to find the do that works best for you –all named for different cocktails, of course.

There are locations in River North, Lincoln Park and Naperville and we wouldn’t be surprised if more pop up.
