@properties Wins 2016 Merrick Momentum Award
Earlier this month, @properties was the proud recipient of the Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center’s 2016 Merrick Momentum Award. The prestigious award was presented by CEC and 1871 at the 9th Annual Momentum Awards Dinner, held at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel on Thursday, Oct. 6.
The Momentum Awards honor leading individuals and institutions that embody the unique and selfless spirit of entrepreneurship in Chicago. @properties was among seven finalists representing the city’s most innovative companies.
“We’re very excited and passionate about Chicago’s growing startup community, and continue to drive innovation in our business. It’s a huge honor to receive this award,” said @properties co-founder Thad Wong.
Established in 2000 by Wong and Michael Golden, @properties has grown into the largest independent brokerage firm in Illinois and the 11th largest brokerage firm in the U.S. by sales volume with nearly $8 billion in annual sales.
Over the last few years, @properties has been seeking new ways to drive innovation within the firm and the real estate industry. That led to partnerships and investments in a number of tech startups that offer next-gen solutions to challenges in the real estate space. @properties’ current tech partners include:
- Konverse: A software that takes communications off of e-mail and puts it in an app that lets users filter messages by topic.
- TurboAppeal: A company that automates the complex property tax appeals process
- Kahoots: A company that makes it easier for users to categorize and share contacts
- PointDrive (recently acquired by LinkedIn): An online presentation software that increases engagement and personalizes client communications
“We are always looking for new ways to improve the performance of our brokers and better the real estate experience for our clients. We’re fortunate that 1871 provides an environment for talented entrepreneurs to develop business solutions right here in our backyard,” said Golden. “We’re humbled to be recognized by the local startup community and look forward to exploring new opportunities.”
